Henoch-Schonlein Purpura is a common disease that aroused by the allergic reaction in capillaries, and the main causes are including infection, food allergy, drug allergy, and other allergies related with pollen and bugbite, etc. The exact causes is usually hard to be confirmed.
The clinical manifestations are also something you need to know. Usually, before the burst of the disease, there may be inflammation in the upper respiratory tract, and you will have slight fever, pain in throat and other malaise. Manifestations in kidney can appear in any period of the disease course. In some cases, the repeated occurrence can lead to Chronic Nephritis, Nephrotic Syndrome and even Chronic Renal Failure. All those pathological changes in kidneys aroused by Purpura are called Purpura Nephritis.
Here, the initial symptoms of Purpura Nephritis are introduced briefly.
1. Hematuria. Both gross hematuria and microscopic hematuria may appear constantly or persistently. It can be severer after the burst of purpura and infections, and is usually accompanied by proteinuria of different severity.
2. Proteinuria. The severity of proteinuria has no relationship with that of hematuria. In some cases, sufferers will develop Nephrotic Syndrome or acute Nephritic Syndrome.
3. Hypertension. It is slight hypertension in most cases, and if the blood pressure is rather high, there will be a poor prognosis generally.
4. Other symptoms. In some cases, edema will appear and it is usually slight one. In the active period of the disease, those who have edema will have a higher blood pressure. Edema is related to the loss of protein. In addition, sufferers will have pain in joint and abdomen, and some other malaise will also invade the body.
