Complications of Nephrotic Syndrome
Failure of any organ will cause discomforts of our body, so is Nephrotic Syndrome. Nephrotic Syndrome refers to a series of symptoms of kidney disease. Without effective treatment, the following complications will be caused.
Complication one: If we just leave Nephrotic Syndrome uncontrolled, kidney failure will be caused therewith. Kidney failure resulted from Nephrotic Syndrome includes both acute one and chronic one. With kidney failure, sufferers need to do dialysis to remove the excessive fluids or substances accumulating in their body; otherwise, these substances piling up in their body will damage their other organs which will cause other diseases.
Complication two: Nephrotic Syndrome also can cause elevated blood pressure. High blood pressure is the common symptom of kidney damages and it can be caused through different pathological changes. With high blood pressure, sufferers need to avoid ingesting too much salt. Besides, bringing blood pressure under control is also necessary as long-term high blood pressure will accelerate the progression of Nephrotic Syndrome.
Complication three: Poor nutrition. Loss of large amounts of protein can result in malnutrition. Usually, this condition will lead to weight mass which is not easy to be found by people with Nephrotic Syndrome because of swelling (edema).
Complication four: without effective treatment, Nephrotic Syndrome also will result in high blood cholesterol and high blood triglycerides. Due to kidney damages, protein albumins are lost, which makes the level of the protein albumin decreases. To increase the level of albumin, our livers produce more albumins and during this process, more cholesterol and triglycerides are produced. As a result, high blood cholesterol and high blood triglycerides appear.
Complication five: if patients do not pay much more attention or attach more importance, infection will be caused by Nephrotic Syndrome.
Complication six: Blood protein can help prevent clotting. For people with Nephrotic Syndrome, due to the serious loss of it, they are at high risk of developing a blood clot in their veins.
